What gear do you need for extreme angling?
Conventional angling is a general term for fishing with a rod and line, using various types of bait or lures. It can be done in fresh or salt water, onshore of from a boat. Extreme angling is similar except it often refers to fishing that often involves more adventure, challenge and risk and usually involves catching fish that are often not straightforward to catch.
The gear you need for extreme angling includes:
Boots
For obvious reasons, these need to be both waterproof and thermal to keep your feet dry and warm in cold and wet places.
Clothing
You will need a warm, waterproof jacket, possibly a fleece too, hats, gloves and t-shirts. Basically you need to pack clothes that can cope with varying weather conditions and the style of fishing that you will be doing.
Rods
Rods are often specific to the type of fish that you are trying to catch. For extreme angling they are likely to require enough strength for bringing in powerful fish but they also need to be flexible enough to cast accurately and smoothly. When purchasing a rod, consider the length, material, weight and action of the rod.
Reels
Your reel needs to be easy to use, durable and reliable. When purchasing a reel also consider the size, capacity, drag system, gear ratio and bearings of the reel.
Lures
You will need lures that are effective of the type of fish that you are aiming to catch. They are often bright coloured have varying sizes and have a specific movement when being pulled through the water.
